The word “Ämeib” is derived from the Namibian word Amaib, which means “the place where it is green” or “where plants grow luxuriantly”. For photographers the sculptured rocks and breathtaking landscapes present both a challenge and a journey of exploration, while a wealth of ancient rock paintings awaits those who are interested in the history of Namibia’s earlier inhabitants. A highlight is the White elephant rock painting in the Phillip’s Cave. Walking trails over the farm offer excellent game viewing and bird watching opportunities. When the sun has set behind the camelthorn trees and the sky lights up with myriad stars, you will be surrounded by the intimate solitude of the African bush.
